About The Daily Word

The Daily Word is Klivii's six-guess, five-letter deduction puzzle. Everyone receives the answer assigned to the current New York calendar day, and the game saves partial guesses so a browser refresh does not erase an unfinished solve.

How to play

  • Build a five-letter guess with the on-screen keyboard or a physical keyboard, then press Enter. The game checks that it is a recognized word before using an attempt.
  • Read the tile feedback: correct-position letters, present-but-misplaced letters, and absent letters also update the keyboard colors.
  • Use up to three written hints if letter evidence is not enough; each hint adds a definition, usage, or context clue for today's answer.
  • Solve within six accepted guesses, or use the revealed answer and recent-answer history to reset for tomorrow's puzzle.

Controls and rules

  • Tap or click the QWERTY-style on-screen keys, or type on a physical keyboard. Enter submits and Backspace removes the last letter.
  • A guess must contain exactly five alphabetic characters and pass the word check. Rejected nonwords do not consume a row.
  • Get hint reveals the next of three clues. The clues cost 5, 8, and 12 gems; a purchased clue stays available after a refresh.
  • Progress is stored locally and, when account state is available, synchronized so the more advanced saved attempt can be restored.

Tips

  • Start with five distinct common letters so the first row tests more of the alphabet instead of repeating a letter too early.
  • A present letter must move to a different position on the next guess; do not leave it where the prior row already ruled it out.
  • Treat keyboard colors as a summary, but use the grid to reason about duplicate letters because one copy can be correct while another is absent.
  • Reveal hints gradually. The first is broad, while later clues include a sentence blank and the kinds of situations where the word is used.
  • Rejected words preserve the current row, so adjust one or two letters rather than clearing a promising pattern completely.

Scoring and objective

The objective is to solve in as few of the six guesses as possible. A win records the number of guesses that remained, from 6 on a first-guess solve to 1 on a sixth-guess solve; an unsolved word records 0. Hints spend gems but do not reduce that game result.

Do Daily Word hints reduce my score?

No. The recorded result is based on how many accepted guesses the solve required. Hints cost gems from your Klivii wallet, but they do not change the puzzle score.

Will my unfinished Daily Word survive a refresh?

Yes. Current letters, submitted guesses, hint count, and the final message are saved locally; signed-in account state can also restore the more advanced copy.
