About Blocktash

Blocktash is Klivii's neon falling-block endurance game on an 18-row by 10-column board. It combines classic line-building with a composite result that rewards row clears, survival time, and staying effective as the fall speed increases every five cleared lines.

How to play

  • Move and rotate the active shape while it falls, using the next-piece preview to prepare the landing.
  • Fill every cell across a row to clear it. Clearing multiple rows with one lock awards much more action score than a single row.
  • Every five total lines raises the level and shortens the automatic drop interval, down to a 180-millisecond minimum.
  • The run ends when the next piece cannot enter the board; the final screen combines action, line, time, and endurance bonuses.

Controls and rules

  • On-screen Left, Turn, Right, Drop, and Slam buttons provide the full control set on touch screens.
  • Keyboard controls are Left/Right arrows to move, Up to rotate, Down for one step, and Space for a hard Slam.
  • Slam sends the piece to its lowest legal row and locks it immediately. Drop moves only one row unless the piece is already resting.
  • Restart begins a fresh board immediately; Music and SFX can be disabled separately.

Tips

  • Keep one side channel open for long pieces instead of sealing every gap as soon as it appears.
  • Use the four-cell next preview to decide whether a temporary overhang is recoverable before committing.
  • Rotation tries small left and right wall kicks, so a piece near an edge may still turn even when a centered rotation would collide.
  • A Slam saves time but has no separate hard-drop bonus. Use it when the landing is certain, not simply because the score clock rewards survival.
  • Two-line and larger clears improve both the immediate action score and the final per-line bonus, making clean setups more valuable than many scattered locks.

Scoring and objective

Locking without a clear adds 10 action points. One, two, three, or four cleared rows add 120, 300, 520, or 800 action points. At game over, the result also adds 5 points per second survived, 150 per cleared line, and a 60-point endurance bonus for each completed 30-second block.

FAQ

How does Blocktash get faster?

The level increases after every five cleared lines. Each level shortens the automatic fall interval until it reaches the game's 180-millisecond floor.

Does Slam give extra points?

No direct Slam bonus is added. It is a speed and placement tool; points come from locking, clearing rows, total lines, and survival time.

Can I play Blocktash without a keyboard?

Yes. The touch controls expose movement, rotation, soft drop, and hard drop as large labeled buttons.

When is a Blocktash score posted?

The composite score is finalized when the stack blocks a new piece. The result screen can then compare the run across the available today, week, and all leaderboard scopes.
